LGBT NIGHTLIFE
W
hat's the best place on a Thursday Friday/Saturday? Like any major city whose nightlife is constantly evolving, that information was out-of-date before this guide came off the printing press. So our best advice is to pick a destination based on the descriptions below-if you get there and decide it's not right for you, just ask one of the friendly patrons. Clevelanders are incredibly hospitable-they'll set you, um, straight.
Bounce Nightclub (2814 Detroit Ave.). Cleveland's biggest LGBT bar, Bounce has programmed an entertaining mix of drag shows, DJs and special events as of late, and attracted a good, mixed crowd. bouncecleveland.com
Twist Social Club (11633 Clifton Blvd.). An upscale lounge at the Cleveland/Lakewood border, Twist is especially nice during summer months when its giant windows are opened and the crowds spill out onto the patio. facebook.com/TwistSocialClub Leather Stallion (2205 St. Clair Ave.). Any questions about who patronizes the Stallion begin and end with its name. Cleveland's oldest leather bar, now under new ownership, its regular theme parties have built a community feel. But it's best known for its patio, a huge draw on summer Sunday evenings, when even those who don't have an interest in leather can't resist. leatherstallion.com Interbelt (70 N. Howard St., Akron) and Square (820 W. Market St., Akron). If you find yourself in our sister city to the south, these two hot spots are your best bets for parties that range from karaoke to dancing to drag, and often include national DJs and performers. interbelt.com and facebook.com/square.nightclub
G2H2 (various locations). By far the most happening LGBT joint in town, this happy hour moves around to different restaurants and bars the third Friday of each month from 5:30 p.m.-9 p.m. Mostly men, however everyone is welcome. G2H2.com WH2 (The Woman's Happy Hour Cleveland). The ladies have their own happy hour gathering at a trendy restaurant-every fourth Friday of the month. thewh2.com
